meet the artist:
Throughout her life, Natalie has displayed an ability to make use out of almost anything. Finding, collecting, saving, and stashing: she sees a purpose in everything—and more often than not, that purpose is in creating.
With a love for experimentation and learning Natalie studied science at Whitworth University in Spokane, WA; graduating cum laude with a BA in biology and minors in art, psychology, and theology. In her studies, Natalie focused primarily on the natural world and particularly on all things growing. Though her disciplines of study were varied, she found ways to weave her favorite academic subjects into her artwork and vice versa. As her artistic inspiration grew, so too did her mediums. Starting in more traditional illustration with pens and graphite, Natalie moved to glasswork in her senior year and there discovered an unknown love for 3D art.
After graduation and in her gap year Natalie began to experiment more with artistic mediums and how she could make art cheaply and sustainably. Second-hand stores, the natural world, and her father’s power tools became frequent resources for her work. Currently the bulk of Natalie’s work consists of repurposed textiles and embroidery, with an occasional project done in wood or as an illustration.
